19 August 2025: Bin Rashid Care Foundation, the world’s largest humanitarian logistics hub, has launched a new documentary titled ‘Coming Together: The Bin Rashid Care Foundation Story’. The film offers a compelling behind-the-scenes view of the leading global humanitarian response facility.

The documentary showcases Bin Rashid Care Foundation’s rapid interventions in crises ranging from devastating floods in Pakistan to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. It highlights how the hub brings together United Nations agencies, international NGOs, and government partners to coordinate life-saving operations in real time.

A key feature of the film is the scale of Bin Rashid Care Foundation’s operations. Spanning 150,000 square metres of warehouses donated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the facility ensures that vital supplies such as vaccines, health kits, and clean water can be delivered to crisis zones within hours.

The documentary also highlights the vital contributions of Bin Rashid Care Foundation’s partners, including the United Nations World Food Programme and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), as well as government logistical partners such as Dubai Customs and Emirates Airline. Their close collaboration ensures that relief operations are swift, seamless and scalable.

The combined expertise of these partners in customs clearance, logistics and airlift capacity has been instrumental in overcoming some of the most complex humanitarian challenges and in ensuring that aid reaches those in need in record time. The film further underscores the human stories behind these operations, capturing the dedication of aid workers, customs officials and airline crews who work together to deliver hope to communities facing crisis.

Giuseppe Saba, CEO, Bin Rashid Care Foundation, said: “Bin Rashid Care Foundation is more than a logistics hub – it’s a global lifeline. This film shows what’s possible when the world comes together, and when the UAE leads with purpose.”

“2025 continues to bring extraordinary global challenges. Working alongside our UN partners and other relief organisations, in just the first half of the year Bin Rashid Care Foundation facilitated the delivery of over AED179.2 million in aid to 81 countries across the globe, with the need for shelter and health aid being particularly striking. We remain steadfast in our commitment to stand with our international humanitarian community in safeguarding the most vulnerable,” Saba added.

Sajeda Shawa, Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) UAE, said: “We must ensure that humanitarian aid is delivered in line with humanitarian principles, with no discrimination and with full equality. To be the voice of those who cannot speak for themselves is not a luxury. It is a responsibility, an honour and a lifelong calling.”

AI-powered Databank

Bin Rashid Care Foundation operates a unique AI-powered Humanitarian Logistics Databank that provides real-time analytics, demand forecasting and stock visibility across time zones. The system enables aid agencies to anticipate needs, prevent price fluctuations and prepare for seasonal surges, including the increased demand for shelter during monsoon seasons in Bangladesh.

Bin Rashid Care Foundation’s strategic location, just ten minutes away from Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport, enables humanitarian cargo to reach two-thirds of the world’s hazard-prone population within four to eight hours. As the Humanitarian Logistics Databank expands to 11 hubs, a growing share of aid will be sourced locally, helping to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate delivery times.

The documentary will premiere on World Humanitarian Day, 19 August, on the Bin Rashid Care Foundation YouTube channel, offering audiences a powerful behind-the-scenes look at global relief efforts.

Key Figures

Between January and June 2025, Bin Rashid Care Foundation distributed aid worth more than USD48.8 million to 81 countries worldwide. Health-related support accounted for nearly USD14 million, covering medical equipment, pharmaceutical items and other essential health accessories. Water and sanitation aid amounted to USD1 million supplying vital items such as containers, buckets and jerry cans.

Almost a third of all assistance, valued at close to USD15 million, was directed towards shelter needs. This included more than 937,000 pieces of camping and field equipment, ranging from tents to winterisation kits.

By June 2025, the total stock value available at Bin Rashid Care Foundation stood at USD208.1 million. Among the key milestones in the first half of the year was the 25th Bin Rashid Care Foundation airlift for Gaza. Conducted in April, the operation delivered 56.8 metric tonnes of critical medical supplies worth over USD1 million (AED4.3 million), provided by the World Health Organization, to El Arish Airport in Egypt.

Click here to watch the documentary

The post Compelling documentary showcases Bin Rashid Care Foundation’s work as the world’s largest humanitarian logistics hub first appeared on Bin Rashid Care Foundation.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 19 August 2025: In observance of World Humanitarian Day 2025, Bin Rashid Care Foundation convened a community gathering alongside the UN Resident Coordinator Office in the UAE, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and the UAE Aid Agency to honour the dedication, courage, and sacrifices of humanitarian workers, and to reaffirm that civilians and aid workers must never be a target.

Held under the theme “Act for Humanity”, the event took place at Bin Rashid Care Foundation’s headquarters and brought together representatives from UN agencies, UAE-based aid organisations, international NGOs, and government partners.

The gathering served as a moment of collective reflection on the courage of those who serve on the frontlines of crises, while also underscoring the growing need for global solidarity and principled humanitarian action. The programme featured speeches by HE Bérangère Boëll, UN Resident Coordinator for the UAE; Mrs. Sajeda Shawa, Head of United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) – UAE office; and HE Rashed Al Hamiri, Director of the Operations Department at UAE Aid. A minute of silence was observed in memory of those who have lost their lives while helping others.

Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Bin Rashid Care Foundation, opened the event by underscoring the importance to carry forward our humanitarian mission through continued collaboration with partners across every sector. In his remarks, he stated: “World Humanitarian Day is a powerful reminder of our shared humanity and responsibility. As an active participant in the humanitarian ecosystem, Bin Rashid Care Foundation bears witness to the great sacrifices humanitarian workers make. We stand in solidarity with all those affected by crises, aid workers and civilians alike, and reaffirm our commitment to delivering hope, dignity, and support wherever it is needed, no matter the challenge or distance.”

For her part, HE Bérangère Boëll, UN Resident Coordinator for the UAE, added: “On this World Humanitarian Day, we honor those we have lost and the courage of those who continue to serve. But remembrance must be matched by resolve, to protect civilians, to defend international humanitarian law, and to ensure that aid is never blocked, never politicized, and never forgotten.”

HE Rashed Alhemeri, Executive Director of Operations at UAE Aid, said: “The humanitarian aid is in the DNA of the UAE and the guidance and directives of our leaders have pushed the UAE’s global humanitarian response to higher levels. The UAE allocated 40% of its total foreign assistance during the last two years to the humanitarian response. We commemorate the UAE’s humanitarian martyrs and all others who lost their lives while helping others. Rashid Al Hemeir also referred to 2025, the Year of the Community and its slogan “hand in hand” and stressed that it is only by working together as partners that we can address the serious challenges the humanitarian work is facing especially to access people in need and avail the resources required.”

In the closing remarks, Sajeda Shawa, Head of OCHA’s UAE Office, said: “Today, after more than two decades since the horrific explosion in 2003, the dangers have only grown. In 2024 alone, 383 humanitarian workers were killed – the highest number ever recorded. This year, we are already counting devastating losses.

We face unprecedented challenges. 300 million people are in urgent need of assistance this year, yet humanitarian operations are only 18 per cent funded. Millions will go without food, medicine, or protection. These are the steepest cuts we have ever faced – and the cost will be measured in lives. That is why OCHA’s Humanitarian Reset is about more than reform, it is about renewal. We are putting people, not systems, at the center. We are shifting power to local communities. We are cutting through inefficiency. We are recommitting to the essence of humanitarianism: protecting life with dignity,” added Shawa

World Humanitarian Day, observed every year on 19 August, was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2008. The day commemorates the 2003 bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad, honours the sacrifices of humanitarian workers, and underscores the importance of protecting civilians and those serving in humanitarian settings. Each year, it serves as a powerful reminder of the need to uphold international humanitarian principles and to enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian action around the world.

The post Bin Rashid Care Foundation Leads Collective Tribute on World Humanitarian Day 2025 with UN and partners first appeared on Bin Rashid Care Foundation.

Shipment includes 39.5 metric tonnes of critical medical supplies, including medicines and equipment, to support health facilities responding to the emergency

Government of Dubai Media Office – 11 April 2025: Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Bin Rashid Care Foundation facilitated the airlift of critical medical supplies to Myanmar following the powerful earthquake that struck the country’s central region earlier this month.

The humanitarian flight, operated in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), departed from Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) this morning and arrived at Yangon International Airport (RGN). The shipment included 39.5 metric tonnes of critical medical supplies, including medicines and equipment, to support health facilities responding to the emergency.

Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Bin Rashid Care Foundation, said: “In times of extreme crisis, such as what we are witnessing in Myanmar, it is essential for the international community to unite in delivering a timely and coordinated response. This mission reflects Bin Rashid Care Foundation’s strategic commitment to supporting frontline humanitarian efforts and ensuring that critical supplies reach those most in need, when they need them most.”

The operation was coordinated by the logistics teams of Bin Rashid Care Foundation and the World Health Organization. It involved the transport of AED571,200 worth of essential relief items from the WHO Global Health Emergencies Logistics Hub, hosted within Bin Rashid Care Foundation, to support approximately 150,000 people.

Saima Wazed, WHO Regional Director for the South-East Asia Region, said: “The devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar nearly 2 weeks ago resulted in over 3,500 confirmed fatalities, 4,800 injured, and hundreds still missing and unaccounted for. WHO previously delivered 35 metric tons of health supplies to Myanmar last week to support the ongoing earthquake response. This delivery of medicines and health supplies including specialized trauma and emergency surgical instruments on today’s flight is vital to saving lives and alleviating suffering. We are grateful to Bin Rashid Care Foundation and the Government of Dubai for their support of our health emergency response.”

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake has intensified an already fragile humanitarian situation in Myanmar, where millions are affected by ongoing conflict, displacement, and limited access to essential services. With infrastructure damaged and health systems stretched, humanitarian actors have flagged an urgent need for medical support, shelter, and clean water.

Bin Rashid Care Foundation remains in close coordination with its members and international partners to monitor developments on the ground and continue supporting the broader humanitarian response in the days ahead. Another airlift, carrying 40 metric tonnes of shelter items for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, is also planned for early next week.

The post Bin Rashid Care Foundation delivers urgent medical aid to Myanmar following devastating earthquake first appeared on Bin Rashid Care Foundation.
Bin Rashid Care Foundation Wins Gold at Middle East & North Africa Stevie Awards for Innovation in Technology https://dubaihumanitarian.ae/dubai-humanitarian-wins-gold-at-middle-east-north-africa-stevie-awards-for-innovation-in-technology/ Wed, 02 Apr 2025 14:18:18 +0000 https://dubaihumanitarian.ae/?p=18968 Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 02 April 2025: Bin Rashid Care Foundation has been named the Gold Stevie® Winner for Innovation in Technology in the Non-Profit category at the Middle East & North Africa Stevie Awards.
